| You can lessen the throw if different ways. Pivot point is the most direct. Silvertwin moves the pivot point as well, but not as far as I do. To get the throw to shorten more he cuts parts of the top off and shortens the top half as well. This reduces the length your arm has to travel on the top half from point to point. Together they both reduce the throw. This is why I don't like aftermarket shift knobs like Momo or the Navan ones. They sit higher than stock. So you take a shifter where the pivot point has been changed to give it a shorter throw. Then you add a taller shift knob. Well you just increased the range your hand has to move now. So you are starting to counter the short throw. Have to picture it all. Basically take a "X" and draw a line down the middle vertically cutting it in half. The middle of the x is the pivot point. The point between both sides of the "V" horizontally gets shorter across as you get closer to the pivot. So the taller the shifter, the longer the throw. Take a point above the pivot on that vertical line (basically where the shift knob would be) and move it down some. The throw distance just got shorter across, but also on the bottom "^" the bottom of the shifter moved down as well if you move the whole shifter in realtion to the pivot. The distance the bottom of the shifter travels across just got greater which is a good thing. Put a taller shift knob on and now bottom of the shifter stays the same, but the upper throw just got longer to get the same effect. Both sides of the "x" go hand in hand. Now, the Stillen has the same throw as mine. But, it sits the same height as stock and the lower section doesn't sit any lower. This has to do with the cup section around the pivot point. It's basically taller than oem, like if you put a spacer under the stock shifter cup and then bolted it down. So the pivot point is changed to reduce the throw still, but the spacer makes it appear to be the same as stock. It keeps the whole shifter higher but the effect is still there.
